My current draft (the first) is based on a 12 page outline and then a more detailed 35 page outline, more like a "scriptment", with slug lines and far more detail. I can't write a draft without that and need to know exactly what I'm doing. And even then the resulting draft may not be exactly what's on the scriptment page. These docs keep me on my toes, letting my have new ideas that I'm able to weave in more effectively since I have a better idea of where I am in the process.

Still means the first draft is the first draft, though.Brian Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06023888442000424089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5563631055689800989.post-68049079712152513902013-09-02T17:45:22.959+01:002013-09-02T17:45:22.959+01:00As Ernest Hemingway way has said"The first dr...As Ernest Hemingway way has said"The first draft is shit."

Yes the first draft is just the beginning. What I do is prepare well before even writing the first draft then just write the first draft and not even think about it. Just get it all out. Then put it away for awhile and start on a new project. Come back later and go through it piece by piece and if I need to get rid of most of it then so be it and see where the real story is within it and go through the process as I said above. And to say I was shocked is a serious underestimation of my feelings.

I worked with Scott many times. And had the pleasure of his company, over and above the times we worked together.

A genuinely nice man, who I never heard anyone say a bad word about. And who never said a bad word about them.

His talent was evident in his huge body of work. And his passion for, and knowledge of what he did, just coursed through his very being.

It was always a delight for me, when I turned up at film set, to find that Scott was shooting it. I knew we were in safe hands. And that it would be fun too.He was always tolerant of my 'fannying aboot' And was one of the few who laughed at my rubbish. Thanks Scott.

Whenever I think about him. I'll always remember his big smiley face, and the way he doubled over clutching his stomach , when he was poorless laughing.

A man with a heart as big as he was.

To say I will miss him, doesn't nearly seem enough words. Iam deeply saddened by his passing. Employed by the state and given a responsibility for which they are accountable. Robert Peel laws were of their time, over 150 years ago, just as the US Constitutional statement about "the right to bear arms" was of its time, relating to invasion by British forces and applying ONLY TO MILITIA IN A TIME OF WAR. And of course the police at the Olympics are armed. What kind of imbecile exactly is it you mistake me for?

I'm disgusted at some of this. I put up a picture to try and pay a little tribute to people who died in an horrific incident and gun afficionados use it as yet another excuse to put their politics forward. That is not why I posted this and YOU KNOW IT.

Show some fucking respect for the dead and injured. This blog is not a democracy. The US gun lobby is WRONG. The NRA are WRONG. No one outside of the armed forces has any right or reason to own automatic weapons. They are made to kill. Any other reason put forward is spurious and an excuse or lie. And the bullshit statement that "guns don't kill people, people do" forgets that people use guns to kill people. And so far, the gun laws in the UK have been doing their job pretty much; but no law is perfect and watertight. If we didn't have them, it's likely there would be a lot more incidents like Hungerford or Dunblane. Every time it happens, the laws get tighter.
